Zohar Yisrael of Dallas is a Jewish Chavurah. According to Dictionary.com, a chavurah is a Jewish fellowship, especially an informal one that meets regularly for discussion or prayer.

Zohar Yisrael is lead by Rabbi Juan Marcos Bejarano Gutierrez who earned his doctorate in Jewish Studies at Spertus. He wrote his dissertation on the history of crypto-Judaism, and has gone on to publish numerous books on Amazon.com including ‘The Rise of the Inquisition” and the book based on his dissertation: “Secret Jews: The Complex Identity of Crypto-Jews and Crypto-Judaism“.

Zohar Yisrael typically has Saturday morning Shabbat Services at 10:30 on the first and and third of each month. Check out the website to be added to the contact list for exact times and information. Each year, Rabbi Bejarano holds Passover and high holiday services as well. The synagogue is Sephardic with Spanish-Portuguese Nusach (style of prayer), and uses the Orot Sidur.
